Top New Year’s Resolutions For Your Social Media

Although this might sound mean, clearing out your friends list can actually improve your social media sites. With the frequent algorithm changes of Facebook, our newsfeed is limited to a small group of people you interact with. When you delete friends you will only be helping that algorithm better suit your social interactions, and show you posts social media marketing plan template that interest you. From a business perspective, cleaning your friends list can help to prevent irrelevant information from showing up in your feed, as well as reducing spam mail in your inboxes. It’s always good to explore other options. Whether you’re a business, or strictly personal, finding new social media sites to explore and conquer can increase your skills. The wider your range, the better your options are at getting your message across. If you are a social media manager, you might find that some social media outlets work better than others for different clients. It’s always a nice gesture to followback after someone has followed you, but often times you don’t want to see all of their tweets. Now with Twitter’s new mute feature, you can filter out the undesirable tweets you no longer want to see by muting those followers who might not tweet information that is relevant to you or your business without having to delete them!Sure, Facebook has a convenient edit feature, but it is best to take a step back, and give yourself time to think things through before posting something for all of public to see. This is especially true if you are posting for company pages. Always read over your posts to check for spelling and grammar mistakes. If you are unsure about a word or phrase, do your research to check that it is right, or choose something similar. If you post to several clients’ pages, make sure social media marketing world that you are posting under the correct client name, (crossing clients and content is a big NO-NO!), or try using Facebook Business Manager!MMG is constantly finding ways to keep our clients content and social media sites fresh and alive. Will you be changing the appearance of your social media profile?

Do you think a change to the appearance of your social media profiles is in need for 2014? On Facebook, you could think about changing the profile picture social media marketing tips of your page, and cover photo. This being said, make sure that it relates to your business and still includes your company’s logo in order to remain consistent and to still be easily recognisable to your audience. You could also think about changing the background of your Twitter profile. If it is still currently the original stock Twitter background change it to something that again, relates to your business and is easily recognisable to your audience, but is also a bit nicer to look at! Don’t forget, although the content on your social media pages is key, the appearance of it is also extremely important. This might seem harsh but it is true and brings me to my second resolution which is that one social media platform is not ideal for all businesses. Every industry and every individual company is different and they all want to appeal to different target audiences. As I said before, every social network has a different audience and key demographic of users. This means that if your company has accounts on multiple networks take a look your profiles and say “Does this really suit my business? Are my consumers looking for me here?”. If the answer to either of these questions is no then consider slimming down your social media portfolio. Just because a site social media marketing tools is popular doesn’t mean that your company should have a presence there. Look at the demographics of the users on the site and see if they fit in with your target audience. Tailoring your social media marketing efforts to your audience may be more difficult than the blanket approach of being everywhere but it is far more effective.

Get rid of dead weight

Some social media platforms just might not be right for your business; so don’t be afraid to turn off a channel that isn’t working for you. What marketing social media works for one business might not work for yours. Ask yourself whether maintaining seven different social media accounts is the best use of your time. There are two approaches: Go with your gut, or rely on analytics. Sometimes it’s obvious that a social media account isn’t working, because nobody likes it, nobody comments on your posts, and everything seems to be a one-way conversation. When things aren’t as clear as that, it’s time for some analytics. So there you have it – a New Year, and a few new ways to make better use of your time when it comes to social media marketing. Of all of these, my favourite is Openr because it can save you time and increase your social media marketing ROI.
