New Year’s Resolutions For Small Businesses

So, here we are in a brand-new year! We have taken a well-deserved break to spend precious time with our family social media as a marketing tool and friends, exchanged gifts – and probably gained so many extra pairs of socks that you will be good for the rest of the decade – and maybe also wished someone had gifted you a packet of pain-killers that would have nursed your new year hangover better than black coffee alone. Now we are all returning to work, and no doubt starting to focus on our business goals for 2016. Our personal resolutions may have been made, and already a few may be broken, but what of your business resolutions? Did you make any as the clock struck 12? Now is the perfect time to review your business resolutions that you made at midnight because you are now sober!! Or if you didn’t get the chance to make any, then you can set out your plans for the upcoming year. I know how tricky it can be to find the time to think ahead and plan your goals for the year – some days you are so busy just keeping your workload ticking over that you don’t have any time to spare. But in these days of advancing technology, we can give ourselves a break by taking advantage of apps and programmes that can help manage some of your background busy business. New Year’s Resolutions to make for your PR and Marketing in 2016

So it is almost New Year’s Eve, and I am sitting here pitching stories to the media on social media marketing blog Connections and watching marketing discussions in Business Business Business and thought it was time to share some PR and Marketing Resolution ideas for your business in 2016.Because planning is the key that makes sure you have the resources you need in place, the timing right for your message and that give you that all important list to follow and tick off.PR and Marketing take time, and it is important not to give up before you have given your campaign sufficient time to gain traction and deliver the result.In an instant society, it is becoming common to want to see instant results, but marketing and PR are all about relationships, and these take time to build. Instead of giving up tweak what you are doing, try something else but keep going. It is harder to restart the cycle than keep going. Networking is one of the most powerful social media marketing experts and PR tools you can arm yourself with in 2016. There are groups like Business Business Business on Facebook and LinkedIn that make networking online easy but networking offline is important too.The media work/schedule well ahead of ‘now’, especially Print media like magazines, so allowing them enough lead time to look at running your story. Some outlets are working 120 days ahead of time.

Resolve to stay ahead of the game

This is one of the hardest challenges in PR. As fires, last-minute deadlines and “urgent” requests fly into social media marketing articles the inbox hour by hour, it’s important to dedicate a portion of the day to ensure you’re staying ahead—or at a minimum on track—of your regularly scheduled program. In this age of short, snippy emails and social media postings, it's easy to post quantity over quality. Before you hit "send" take a second (or even third) look. It pays not to be sloppy. When the going gets tough, the tough can get stressed. And what good does a foggy, frenetic brain do when push comes to shove? Little. There's something to be said about the five-minute break. Try it. You’ll be better at your job because of it. Tell your boss or client(s) what they need to hear, not what they want to hear. This can sometimes be intimidating, but it's important, and only right. We've all been there—there’s an expectation that PR will simply take orders—but you know in your gut the effort at hand will net nothing but peeved social media marketing dallas and bloggers and worse, backlash that could damage several reputations, both the company and yours.
