Business New Year’s Resolutions: Evolve your marketing strategies

Entrepreneur Chris Castillo tells a story: While waiting for a physiotherapist’s appointment for foot pain recently, he pulled out his phone social media marketing certification and started doing his own research. After the therapist instructed him on his exercises, Castillo asked about the ones he’d read on his phone. The physiotherapist agreed he should do those too. The age of global trade requires training a new kind of salesperson. It’s a parable for the fast-changing reality of sales. Smartphone-toting shoppers are educated like never before and far less dependent on a sales rep to tell them what they need. One recent study suggested buyers have already made 57% of a purchase decision before they even contact a supplier. “We’re used to a certain way of selling that’s more traditional, top-down, ‘I’m more educated than you are.’ But now it’s totally changed,” says Castillo. Small businesses need to alter their mindsets to become more like coaches or consultants, helping buyers understand the vast array of information before them. Digital marketing, such as search advertising and social media, are also invaluable, Castillo says. After personal referrals, it’s become his second-best source of new customers for his auto shop. But don’t ditch the sales reps just yet. Entrepreneur and consultant Tim Rudkins says while buyers do a lot of research online, they’re also busy and inundated with information. “They often buy from someone who happens to be knocking on their door that day,” Rudkins says. “Sales reps who stay in contact tend to get more sales. But reps have to do more for the buyer—including giving more information and help than before.” In 2016 welcome Google's Primer (if you already haven't :)). SEI Survey Reveals Financial Advisors' Top 2016 New Year's Resolutions

Fostering growth will be top-of-mind for financial advisors social media marketing ideas in 2016, according to a recent report from SEI (NASDAQ: SEIC). The SEI survey gathered responses from 484 financial advisors, who ranked their top New Year’s resolutions within three main areas – investment strategies, technologies and practice management. Advisors’ top three priorities for 2016 were implementing goals-based investing, applying technology to increase workflows and efficiencies in their practices, and increasing client referrals. Despite being heavily discussed topics in 2015, only 20 percent of advisors resolved to implement additional front-end/robo-advisor technology, and the same percentage said they would plan to expand their understanding of the impending Department of Labor’s fiduciary rule, which could significantly impact their businesses. “Not surprisingly, advisors are focused on growing their businesses in 2016 and are particularly committed to helping clients grow their assets,” said John Anderson, Managing Director and Head of Practice Management Services for the SEI Advisor Network. “However, it remains important to stay on top of ongoing market volatility and regulation, as they can potentially impact the way advisors counsel their clients and can detract focus from clients’ personal goals.” Goals-Based Investment Strategy. Interestingly, 80 percent of advisors resolve to make enhancements to their businesses by exploring managed volatility investment strategies, which more effectively weather ups and downs in the markets. However, when asked to rank the resolutions in priority order for 2016, the number one investment-enhancement priority for advisors is to implement a goals-based approach to investing for social media marketing packages their clients. “True goals-based investing is setting goals and tracking against them, which helps redefine how a client measures success. It moves away from traditional benchmarks and towards a more meaningful one – progress toward specific client goals,” said Anderson. “In 2016, advisors will be focused on ways to keep existing clients happier by implementing longer-term, client-specific goals, rather than setting goals depending on the market, which will continue to fluctuate.” Even though most advisors responded that “explore managed volatility investment strategies” is in their top three New Year’s resolutions, it is only a second priority for advisors in 2016, followed by implementing more tactical or dynamic investment options for clients.

Social Customer Care New Year’s Resolutions For 2016

As 2015 draws to a close, people are social media marketing b2b not only reflecting on the past year, they have started looking to the future. They’ve started creating 2016 to-do lists, finalizing their budgets for the upcoming year, and anticipating the trends for the new year in the hopes of having a leg up on competition. We’re excited to welcome the New Year too! But before you go off to your families and friends to celebrate the holidays, plan what your strategy will be for next year. To help, we’ve compiled a list of top customer care team resolutions for 2016 to inspire you to create your own. Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One (Twitter) Basket. In the early days, Twitter was king of social customer care. Recently, we’ve noticed more and more companies starting to focus on other channels too. Multichannel customers value one-on-one conversations and prefer to be helped out through the channel of their choice. While it’s really important to be really good at one thing (instead of doing an okay job on other channels), for 2016, decide to broaden your horizon, take the plunge, and take on customer care through other social channels. You can no longer just provide the service you yourself are comfortable with– you need to bring your A game. Make Customer Feedback Really Meaningful. Now that you’re starting to get social customer care right, it’s time to really start differentiating yourself. Good social customer service is great, but taking it to the next level and delivering on a superior customer experience is even better. So what does this mean for your business? Close the loop with your customers! Use the valuable customer feedback you gather through social to anticipate your customers’ wants and needs. Instead of trying to win the hearts of your customers each conversation social media marketing for small business at a time, make sure you can gain a real competitive advantage by understanding the customer journey. Become Truly Customer-Obsessed (Even If You Think You Already Are). In 2016, instead of focussing on vanity metrics, focus on the KPIs and analytics that really matter, and discover and resolve underlying issues your customers are struggling with. Create useful dashboards, send out tailored reports across the board, and host frequent meetings with other departments to share knowledge within the team. Instead of claiming you’re a customer-centric organization, actually be one.

Start Blogging to Establish Authority

Start building your Internet reputation with blogging. Let’s say, the earlier you start - the better. It will open new doors for you and you’ll improve your writing. Take into consideration that most of the business communication today happens through e-mail. Having that in mind, it’s critical to help you boost your writing skills. Other benefits include creating your networking circle that will be of use later on in your social media marketing job description career. Just think of it as a way to hire new people. It’s a perfect way to show people why they should be a part of your endeavor. You might be thinking where to start? Which platform to use? Think twice before you set up Medium as your primary blogging platform. Don’t get me wrong, I think Medium is great. Especially when it comes to community and curation aspects that your posts can reach. I’d still prefer starting with your own blogging platform. Primarily, you have a control over the content you produce and SEO. After all, you want your website to get all of that organic traffic. Looking from a long-term angle, you have more possibilities for expansion. Imagine your posts reaches massive social traffic through Medium and you miss your chance to engage with all those readers through email opt-ins you can have on your own blogging platform compared to Medium where you can't. The first option leaves you with e-mail addresses, and potential 50 customers and the second option leaves you empty handed. In this case, Medium gets the most of the benefits. Besides, think about building email lists through Medium. No customizing possibilities within Medium. And you might need them. Maybe not now, but later on. My content Will Be More Personalized According to a study by Janrain, twenty-five percent of adults would be willing to give up chocolate for a month to receive content tailored to their needs and tastes. And that’s just the beginning, twenty-one percent of consumers would change their mobile or smart phone for a day to receive personalized content. Seventeen percent would use only a landline phone for a week and thirteen percent would give up sex for a month. Can you believe that?! What does this tell you? People are buried with irrelevant content not tailored to their needs and marketers are slow in providing the right content at the right time to the right audiences. Starting a new chapter in 2016, you might think of creating more relevant content for your visitors. Whatever you’re doing or working on marketing and social media think of the person you’re writing for. Don’t write a thing, before you define your target audience. Different segments of visitors should be served with different content. Try writing about things your audience is interested in. If your audience is interested in content marketing and they download the awesome ebook you’ve created - send them the new content offer with more in-depth information. It's simple as that.

Should a ‘social media clean-up’ be your new year’s resolution?

If you’ve decided that finding a new and improved role in your chosen social media marketing salary creative industry is your new year’s resolution, we salute you! The start of the calendar year often marks the end of the ‘quiet season’ when it comes to recruitment activity in marketing jobs and digital marketing jobs, and so once your CV is in order you’ve already won half of the battle. However, a top-notch CV could count for nothing if you neglect to make sure that your social media presence paints the best possible picture of yourself – both professionally and socially. You may have spent hours on your LinkedIn profile – after all, this is the only social media network that a potential employer will be interested in, right? Wrong! In the modern employment marketplace, more and more hiring personnel are taking a look at your activity on Facebook and Twitter, particularly to make sure your character traits will not land your employer in hot water further down the line. If your LinkedIn personality (all achievements and professional motivation) is let down by a cringeworthy Facebook image of whatever you got up to on Boxing Day, or an expletive-laden tweet sent in anger during last week’s Arsenal home game, at the very least it will start to sow some seeds of doubt in the mind of whoever is thinking about progressing your job application to the next stage. You may be reading this and thinking that it is all irrelevant because you have everything set as ‘private’ or ‘friends only’. However, when you decide to change your Facebook global privacy settings it will social media marketing statistics usually leave anything before this time as ‘public’ – this is why some manual spring cleaning of your Facebook profile may be necessary. As a keen candidate, you need to do everything in your power to stand out when a recruiter has a mountain of CVs for the same role, but under no circumstances will you want to stand out for the wrong reasons. On the other hand, if your personal social media presence is all about showcasing your levels of creativity and all-round character, you really have nothing to fear!

Time for Some Healthcare New Year's Resolutions

It’s that time of year for many people to head off for a festive break before social media marketing strategies seeing out the year. It’s a time for reflection – on what has been good and bad about 2015 – and the chance to make pledges to do things better in 2016. Healthcare has seen some real evolution this year. The value of patient engagement has started to be truly recognized by all the other stakeholders to elevate patient centricity above being another buzzword. In addition, the potential for big data to revolutionize management of wellness and disease is also becoming a reality as technology advances and allies with a growing focus on personalized healthcare, shifting everyone’s focus. Patients: become more active in your own health At the vanguard of patient empowerment we are seeing individuals who are tracking their own health using all the tools now available to them. But more than that, they have the confidence to know their voice has at least equal weight versus others in staying healthy and treating any disease. They are no longer passive recipients of medical advice; they are proactive champions of the quantified self and challengers of traditional health system hierarchies. In 2016, more patients should move down this path and engage on even terms with the other stakeholders. It will benefit everyone. - Healthcare providers: accept your role has changed In light of patient empowerment, healthcare providers – doctors, nurses and all others on the front line of medical intervention – should accept that the dynamic of their role has changed. Yes, time is extremely limited; yes, the hours are social media marketing manager long; yes, resources are limited; and yes, there is a great deal of misinformation to contend with. But fighting it will not change the direction of travel. Instead, use your medical expertise and training to help guide patients though their journey and, in doing so, keep learning yourself. Your role is critical so don’t stand still in such as fast-changing environment. -

Learn Something New!

This is another one of those activities that can get pushed aside, but the marketing with social media opportunities are endless, and most of the time you don’t have to leave your desk. Is there a topic that interests you? Research it and take an online course. Many are free – even if they originate in the hallowed halls of Ivy League institutions like Harvard and Yale. Maybe these are too general to be of great value to a business owner? Then try a YouTube search. The first result I got was “Top 500 Free Online College Courses.” There are also online education emporiums like Khan Academy. But keep in mind that learning something new doesn’t necessarily require a formal class. If your neighbor is a Quickbooks expert, why not ask for a brief lesson? Clean Up and Focus Your Data. If you have a mailing list it is absolutely guaranteed to contain some bad addresses and/or emails. These need to be cleaned up, and while it may take some time it’s worth doing. One, you are sending emails to non-existent people, and there really is no point to this practice. And two, you increase the risk of being labeled a spammer. Clean up your list – some will be easy, obvious corrections and some will need to be deleted, but you’re in business to market to people who can actually buy things. Then, segment your list – send targeted messages to sub-groups within your existing list. This personalization does wonders for stats like open rates (14% higher) clicks (58% higher) and unsubscribe requests (9% lower). Manage Your Blog Comment Spam. Chances are, if you have a blog and happen to take a few days off, you will return to a big steaming pile of curious blog remarks about obtaining prescription drugs or how to control your pets. You will also get a few pings from strange websites with titles social media marketing software like “Why I Love Your Blog” or “Premier Power Oxortey.” Controlling comment spam is part diligence, part technology and part gut instinct, as it is not always easy to tell legitimate comments from spam. But it is important. Allowing nonsense remarks or bad links to your blog will ultimately hurt your credibility with readers and could hurt your search rankings.

Be more Social – online that is.

Have you abandoned your how to use social media for marketing followers in the midst of the holiday rush? This year, we’re committed to speaking and listening to our fans! Although we can’t say “‘yes” to everything, we’re going to say it as much as we can. It’s important that we build a good relationship with our fans, and not just continuously promote our products. We’re passionate about what we sell, and that’s what we want to share with our fans.Make no resolutions. Let’s be realistic for once: no one keeps their resolutions. Why not sell exercise equipment in the first week of January, and then snack foods for the rest of the year. Now that’s what we call understanding your customers. :) Join Something The collective wisdom of a group is something you can never experience alone, sitting in your office. There are professional groups all over LinkedIn and other online forums. Use them! All generally welcome new members and all are generous with their knowledge. Best of all, you will open up networking opportunities many magnitudes faster than if you did this through one on one meetings. The old school groups like the Elks, Rotary Club, and Kiwanis can also be very helpful. These folks often have deep roots in their communities, making them great resources for the small business owner. Sure, none of these are glamorous endeavors, but they are all useful and focused on growing your business. Make success your number one resolution social media marketing courses for the new year. Regulators: think beyond medicines Regulatory approval for medical apps and engagement with new technology companies like 23andMe has shown that regulators, such as FDA and EMA, are accepting that controlling use of medicines is just one aspect of their role. Delivering the right outcomes often necessitates a mix of medicine, support and technology. In 2016, the regulators must continue to upskill around being able to assess which interventions will make a difference, traditional medicine or not.

New Year’s Resolutions for 2016 from the PrestaTeam

It’s a new year, which means it’s time to start new habits that will make you a better…well, you. We asked around the office to see what resolutions the Presta Team is making. It seems that as we get older, we make less time for making new friends. So in 2016, we vow to turn off our computers, put down our phones and get out and meet new people! We’re going to join, attend PrestaShop community events, and say “yes” to the nextsocial media marketing world invitation we receive. It’s a great way to practice our social skills and maybe even make some new friends. Who knows? If you try it too, you might just meet your next business partner!Entrepreneurs, let’s just admit it: we’re workaholics. Our drive to solve everyday problems makes us successful at our business. But this year, we’re going to put the problem solving on hold for a bit. We’re hitting the road. Whether it’s taking short cruise or driving the length of Route 66, we’re determined to see another part of the world. Although it may feel like time taken away from our business, we’re going to use it as time to refuel and maybe even come up with some new ideas for the company. Adopt a pet. Having a dog may seem counterintuitive: do you really need more responsibility? But having someone else depend on you also gives you motivation to get your life in order: get up early every morning (forget about sleeping until noon), eat at reasonable meal times, get home at a decent hour…establishing a regular rhythm will help you keep your store on track as well. And best of all, you’ll get plenty of love all day long, which will decrease social media marketing tips stress levels and boost your morale when you’re filling out all your product data sheets! There’s a saying that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Well, thank goodness you’re not a dog. :) With such a wide variety of online resources available, it’s easier than ever to learn something new. We suggest learning how to code. Not only will you start to understand what your developer is saying, but you might be able to squash some bugs on your website yourself!

New Year’s Resolutions for Marketing Your Business

We won’t blame you if you don’t make it to the gym that much (or at all) in January. There’s no problem if those inside chores social media marketing tools wait until spring. And we certainly won’t rat on you if the scale tells a sad tale next month. But, there are a few New Year’s Resolutions you need to keep, and these are for your business. The next couple of weeks is a great time to get some work done so you can hit the ground running in 2016.As a small business owner, it is so easy to get caught up in day to day activities. Before you know it, a week has gone by and you’ve basically been doing the marketing equivalent of treading water. You need goals to keep you grounded and focused, but they must be measurable. No cheating on this one – if you can’t prove it on paper then it’s fluff. And your goals must be realistic. They shouldn’t be easy, but don’t set yourself up for failure. Tweet more, hand out more business cards, sponsor an event, hold an open house, and while we have your attention, why not… Let’s face it – if your customers and their friends were all congregating in certain places at certain times of the day, you’d want to take advantage of this information, right? Of course you would. Social media is today’s water cooler – a place where people hang out with each other and talk, often about purchasing decisions or business issues they want to solve. For the marketing social media owner, these represent perfect opportunities to engage with people who are (for example) talking about your industry, a product you make, or a solution that you can provide. Use the available online research to determine which social media platform(s) is best for you, then listen, build relationships, and offer suggestions. Before you know it, you will have a new business pipeline.

NEW YEAR'S BEER RESOLUTIONS FOR 2016

2016 marks the 10 Year Anniversary of Drink Craft Beer. 10 years! It’s been a great ride, and we’ve come a long way. But never fret, we’ve got more to come. When you hit a milestone like this, sometimes it’s nicebenefits of social media marketing to reflect a bit, and it being the New Year and all, I figured it was a perfect time for some New Year’s Resolutions. While these are ostensibly for 2016, in reality these resolutions go farther out than just this year. All in all, let’s get back to the roots with beer, let’s learn to love beer again...let’s drink craft beer! So here we go.And the corollary here is “Order more pints.” There’s only so well you can get to know a beer in a few ounces. I want to get to know fewer beers way better this year. You want to recommend a beer you loved? If you tell me you had a 4 oz of it, and that’s it, I’m not listening to you. A sample is a great place to start. But that’s exactly what it is, a place to start. Also, it’s WAY harder to be social when you and your friends are all buried in sample boards. Buy a round of pints and be social. It’s 2016...you don’t have to worry about going to the best beer bar in town to get a good brew now. So, instead, worry about getting a great group of people together and figure out where you’ll all have fun. If that’s not local craft beer hub, that’s fine. Even run of the mill, mainstream bars have at least one of two decent offerings now. Hell, I was in a generic “Irish Pub” in suburban wasteland Massachusetts and had more than a couple great offerings on tap to choose from. A decent beer with great friends will ALWAYS be a better night than a great beer with lesser friends, or without using social media for marketing friends at all. I love hops, so don’t get me wrong here. I’m not saying to stop drinking IPAs. Far from it. Just, let’s try some other styles, too. There’s a million IPAs already and, by the time I’m done with this sentence, 5 more will have hit the market (*totally made up fact). All I’m saying is, don’t get in a beer rut. Try some other styles. Drink a Gose. Have a good lager. Find a Hefeweizen. Hell, I’d forgotten how good Belgian Wits can be until I had an Allagash White a few months ago. That’s a damn good beer! Let’s try more new stuff in 2016.

A Few New Year’s Resolutions to Promote Better Television

What is social media marketing the arrival of the new year, it’s time to suggest some resolutions for the television industry. Yes, there are programs and creative impulses worth celebrating, but let’s face it, there are also some trends that are less than encouraging, to say the least. This story first appeared in the January 05, 2016 issue of Variety. Subscribe today. Casting blandness. Too many shows, especially on broadcast, are casting for looks, not for presence, skill or charisma. The result is an interchangeable array of bland faces, especially among guys. (There appears to be special fondness for a certain kind of white everydude with dirty-blond hair and stubble.) Of course, forgettable characters are rarely the fault of the performer, but when blah writing meets tame casting, the results are snore-inducing. TV providers need to take chances on actors who have something special to offer — and don’t look like they were churned out by a factory specializing in human knockoffs. Bogged-down dramas. Why are so many cable and streaming dramas running so long? Of course, a show can go past 42 minutes if it really needs to. But in the realm of ambitious TV, too many episodes head toward the 50- or 60-minute mark not because they have to, but because they can. Of course writers shouldn’t feel locked into rigidly enforced running times that hinder great storytelling. But they don’t seem to realize that those extra minutes need to be justified. Long episodes not underpinned by discipline, focus and taut structure often make for draggy seasons — and even promising dramas can devolve into interminable slogs. Missing medics. Why can’t TV make a really good new medical drama? Every year, by-the-numbers doctor dramas stumble down the pike, but despite the explosion of TV production, refreshingly smart, innovative takes on this sturdy genre have been all but impossible to find. True, we’ve also got a couple veteran medical dramas that get the job done, but “House” and “ER” have been off the air for years. How long do we have to wait for a replacement? Serial stumbles. Just a few years ago, serialization was a dirty word in television, in part because it didn’t sell well in syndication. Thanks to the rapid rise of streaming, serialization has become all the rage, but it’s clear that some writers don’t know how to use it well. It can make a good story richer, more exciting and more thematically dense — but too many dramas are aping “Scandal” and “Breaking Bad” without social media marketing jobs the acting, pacing, characterization and overall skill that Shonda Rhimes and Vince Gilligan bring. Without characters to care about, shows begin to feel like bowls of story spaghetti, with strands and subplots leading everywhere and nowhere.

IDEAS FOR YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION

As 2014 comes to an end, 2015 planning is on its way. Usually everybody is getting their New Year’s resolutions ready; how about having one for your social media and marketing? After all, it’s always helpful to set new goals and priorities. When it comes to resolutions, they’re always meant to bring about improvements, even more acts of kindness. Some ideas for your social media strategy components will hopefully get you thinking about what your resolution(s) for 2015 could be. Content is growing in importance; it is one way brands can cut through the noise and stand out from the competition. Get creative with your content. This could mean integrating new forms of content such as SlideShare presentations, funny videos, podcasts with a specific yearly theme, and customer storymonials as a different way to tell your brand’s story. Make sure your content always offers value and is visually appealing. Community Engagement. Find new ways to engage with your community. Learn from what worked and didn’t in the past year, and test new ideas. What didn’t work you can cross off your list. For what did work, make sure you keep doing it and then ask yourself questions on why you think it worked. Through an analysis of what worked you can better understand what makes your community tick and formulate new ways of engagement. Some people are more engaged when you ask them to answer fun fact questions; others when there is a contest with a prize; and still others enjoy taking surveys to find out a specific personality trait they have (for example, finding out what type of leader they are) or taking surveys to share how they feel towards a product or company. Create Opportunities. With a new year ahead of you, you have full calendar of events and holidays you can create opportunities around to engage your audience and increase visibility (as well as sales). Plan ahead and make a list of specific holidays and events that you can use to organize your content and shares social media marketing agency around. Once you pinpoint the holidays and events, you can start creating social campaigns around them and have those ready for when the time comes. Also, don’t forget trending topics. These you can’t plan ahead, but you can always keep an eye out (for what’s trending in your industry) and adapt your social media shares accordingly.

Cigna Social-Media Campaign Says Forget New Year's Resolutions

Old habits die hard, and so at a time of year when most weight-loss companies social media marketing company and gyms are urging people to clean up their diet and shed holiday pounds, one company is going against the grain. In a social-media campaign by Interpublic Group of Cos.' Hill Holliday that launches this week, health insurer Cigna introduces the New Year's "nonresolution," urging its members to do away with making commitments that mean sacrificing things they love and, rather, make commitments to preserve something that is uniquely them. In other words: Don't change a thing. Says the company on its Facebook page: "Who said New Year's has to be about giving something up? Think about something you never want to change about yourself -- what's already working for you, what makes you happiest." Members are invited to submit their nonresolution; at the end of 2012, Cigna will send it back to see if they've stayed true to themselves. The counterintuitive-ad strategy could become a trend as marketers struggle to find ways to stand out. The approach echoes Patagonia's mailer pegged to the post-Thanksgiving shopping rush that declared in large bold letters "Don't Buy This Jacket." While other companies were advertising their Cyber Monday deals, the outdoor-apparel retailer asked people to "buy less and to reflect before you spend a dime on this jacket or anything else."Although giving back isn’t a must in your social media strategy, it is something that speaks to your values (your values as a person and a business). If there’s one resolution that everyone should make every year, it would be this one. Whether you participate in a fundraiser, decide to give a percentage of your sales to a non-profit or charity organization, or decide to give away products or services to a certain number of people in need; think about social media marketing plan template it as 2015 comes in and do it. You have an entire year of data to learn from that will help you tweak your strategy and improve your social media activity. Don’t let it go to waste! And make the most of 2015 by also giving back to your community. May it be a wonderful 2015 for your social media, business and personal life!

Right there at #9: You know what they say about every hour's sleep before midnight being equivalent to two hours of sleep post-midnight? Considering that I usually nod off while telling my kids their bedtime story at 9.00pm, I think it's time for all of us to shift bedtime back - I could do with feeling more energetic this year. And while I don't quite like the "early to rise" part of the deal, I'd like to get in some me-time before the clan wakes up and starts howling for attention.I think I turned into a social media junkie over the last couple of years, and there's very little point to it. It's another dangerous time-and-energy suck (and by the way, I don't watch TV either, but that's old now). So in 2016, I'm just going to use Twitter to stalk people and Facebook for sparingly reaching out to make some real connections. Some un-friending might happen. Frankly, I don't think anyone will even notice. Except my real buddies who may be surprised by a sudden call from me this year. This is of course related to the point above, but goes beyond. Our use of phones is alarming - really, really alarming. So some ground rules: no checking work mail on the phone when unnecessary; no pressing the snooze button anymore; and every time I realise I'm staring blankly at the screen, go and force myself to do something more meaningful, which brings me to #6. …The number one regret that people have atlanta social media marketing when they die is that they didn't spend enough time with people who really mattered to them. We all know this. How many of us act on it NOW? Yeah, I thought so. Not very many. This year, I resolve to really LISTEN to my kids. And to help me along, I've even taught them to say stuff like, 'What's more important - me or your phone/laptop/work?' Of course, sometimes I snarkily tell them the latter item is marginally more important than them, but still.

Resolve to Enhance Your Technology Footprint

Few things frustrate employees—and clients—more than working with outdated social media marketing blog technology. Consider all aspects of your organization’s technology, from desktop computers and laptops to cell phones to high-speed internet to copiers. See which pieces of equipment are still working, and which ones aren't. The new year is also a great time to look for deals, especially if you’re looking to outfit an office as you’ll get a better deal when buying or leasing in bulk. Some business owners are pros at planning ahead. They have calendars with dates marked off months in advance, and know exactly when to make time for personal and business affairs. And then there are the rest, who are hard-pressed to remember today’s schedule, let alone next week’s. As a small business owner, chances are you are more apt to fall into the former category, juggling multiple commitments and timelines for quite a while. But even if you consider yourself a master planner, now's the time to take a moment to really look at the next twelve months and plan what you can. While many unexpected things will happen throughout the year that you cannot possibly anticipate, marking down special dates in your personal life or even sketching out your annual promotions around the holidays are things you can get a handle on early. Resolve to Take a Breath and Nourish Your Mind and Body. The end of the year is hectic enough with holidays and family obligations. Add end-of-the-year accounting and tax preparation to that list, and you’re going to find it social media marketing experts difficult to take a moment to eat lunch, let alone recharge. The importance of taking time for yourself cannot be understated. How you do it is irrelevant; the most important thing is that you do. Not only will it help to reaffirm your commitment to your business and goals, but pursuing interests outside of your own company makes you a better manager and human being. Plus, only with a bit of distance and some quiet time will you truly be able to reflect on the past year and look forward to the year ahead.

PR & Social Media New Year’s Resolutions

Traditional resolutions are so 2013. Eat healthier, exercise more, save money, read stuff, call your mom more often, blah, blah, blah… So we came up with PR and social media New Year’s resolutions that our team plans to practice effective social media marketing in 2016 and beyond to increase results and generally make everyone even happier. Yes, you want people to view your post. That’s the whole reason for posting it – so people will see it, comment and hopefully, share. However, tagging people without their permission, including people who aren’t even in the picture, is bad form. Social media decorum would ask that you text or email the people in the picture – or ask them when the photo is being taken – “Hey, do you mind if I tag you in this photo?” Some people don’t want to be found online for reasons that might not occur to you, and others may simply find it annoying. But the people who aren’t even in the picture will be the most confused and bewildered. “I wasn’t even there!” (Hint: If you’re the recipient of seemingly random or unwanted tags, you can easily change your privacy settings, so you can view tags first before they are posted to your timeline.)When we can slow down and really talk through creative ideas for our clients, trends in our industry and just really cool stuff we’ve seen that might help us, or our clients. Making time on everyone’s schedule to have a meaningful conversation can be as hard as giving up truffle fries or training for a marathon. But we think it’s just as gratifying when we’re finished. Plus it’s a great excuse to eat donuts. When a business contact or associate social media as a marketing tool wants to “friend” you on Facebook or follow you on Instagram, it may be a bit too personal for your taste. We get it. Facebook is where you share pics of your family, BFFs, pets, vacation photos and, if you’re brave, embarrassing throwback photos from your awkward teen years.
